Assisted Living Frequently Asked Questions

What is Assisted Living?

Backyard
A large, beautifully landscaped backyard with a lovely covered patio allows residents to enjoy the mild winter weather in Arizona. Paved paths wander throughout the area, allowing wheelchair access to nearly every part of the yard. For residents with green thumbs, we welcome their talents - caring for, adding to, and shaping the flowers, shrubs and trees that grace the landscape. There is even a raised planter bed that will allow the wheelchair-bound to get their hands dirty. Wheelchair accessible tables have allowed us to have great barbecues and special celebrations in this lovely outdoor setting.

Kitchen/Dining
The fully stocked kitchen allows us to prepare three nutritious, home-cooked meals every day. We also offer snacks and handle special diets as needed. Cooking smells fill the living areas, just like in your own home. During holidays the mouthwatering smells of turkey, stuffing and gravy help our residents to feel right at home –>because it is their home. The dining room has space for all residents to come together for meals, and allows for real family feeling around the table. It's a terrific place for our residents and their families to celebrate special moments — birthdays, graduations, holidays and more.

Living Room
The living room of the home is where many of our residents gather to talk, watch television and enjoy social activities. This spacious area has room for traditional furniture like recliners and couches, as well as offering space for wheelchairs. The family room allows residents to pursue quieter activities away from the main living area of the home — from reading to listening to music. Comfortable over-stuffed chairs and couches create a cozy atmosphere so our residents can relax in comfort and style. An activity area allows plenty of space for residents to assemble puzzles or work on other crafts and hobbies.

Bedrooms
Home Sweet Home offers six private and companion rooms. Each room has satellite with cable television hookups, and is fully accessible by wheelchair. Rooms can be arranged to accommodate most physical or medical needs.

Safety
Nothing is more important to us than our resident's safety and well-being. A sprinkler system runs throughout the house and smoke alarms are present in every room. Resident medications are stored in a locked area, and our trained staff provides assistance assuring residents receive the medications and dosages prescribed by their physicians. Our home is a secured environment and visitors must be allowed in by a staff member. All of our caregivers are certified by the state of Arizona and are prepared to offer whatever services our residents need.

What is a Residential Care Home?

Residential Care homes, also known as board and care homes or care homes, offer personalized services to small groups of adults. They provide lodging, meal services and assistance with daily living activities.

Unlike nursing homes, care homes are non-medical, and are designed to enhance an enjoyable lifestyle. Services are dependent upon the residents’ individual needs with a wide variety of services.

Are You or Your Loved One a Candidate for Assisted Living?

Assisted living facilities serve adults who desire to transition from home or those who discharge from a nursing home facility, rehabilitation center or hospital.

Criteria for assistance is based on the resident’s ability to perform select daily living skills activities and their physical ability. In addition, those with cognitive or physical disabilities will benefit from the unique facilities and trained staff at Assisted Living facilities.
