Welcome Home to Home Sweet Home Assisted Living

Steve, owner and manager of Home Sweet Home, found the inspiration to begin offering family-oriented, personalized assisted living after his mother passed away. “My mother was the heart of our home and did everything for my father. When she passed, he found even simple things like learning how to use the washing machine were challenging, made even more difficult as he attempted to cope with his grief,” says Steve. “For a time, my father moved in with my brother and his family, but that was a challenge for my brother as well as off-putting to the rest of the family who had to petition to visit.

Eventually, as his health declined, we began looking for a place where he would be well-cared for. My father’s personality just wouldn’t allow him to thrive in a larger community, so we were looking for a small, intimate setting — one where his needs could be personally looked after. We had no idea what a challenge this would be.”

Home Sweet Home was founded a few years later, and Steve resolved to provide a cheerful, personal atmosphere for individuals who thrive better in more intimate settings. “We try to create a peaceful, home-like atmosphere. That means we have a rigorous screening process to create good chemistry between all of our residents and to create a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere,” says Steve. “We provide cheerful and fun activities which cater to the needs of our residents. We are prepared to assist with the activities of daily living as needed, but encourage each resident to retain as much independence as possible.”

“We hope that Home Sweet Home will allow our residents to relax in a tranquil environment and, be welcoming to visiting family members. We want you to enjoy visiting with your loved ones in a family atmosphere,” Steve adds.
